About Us
B&R Brooks, LLC was established in 1981 by Benjamin Brooks, Sr., a Vietnam Veteran and cost accountant for The Seagram Company. While working at Seagram, Benjamin had the idea that he wanted to create a business combining his love for technology with his knowledge of taxes and accounting. He had always informally done tax work on the side but felt that his new idea had potential. With the help of a $10,000 International Business Machine (IBM) computer, which did not have a hard drive and an old sewing table his wife used from time to time, B&R Brooks Professional Tax Service (B&R) was born. B&R started in the basement of a mid-century, brick rancher, Benjamin & Theresa Brooks purchased in the Woodlawn section of Baltimore County, MD, in the early 1980s. Affectionately remembered as “the basement” with its wood paneled walls and festively tiled floors it served as the foundation of what would eventually become B&R Brooks, LLC in 2017. After nearly four decades of service to our local community and beyond, we are proud to continue the legacy of its founder based upon this tradition of hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. (Albeit, with computers that now have hard drives.)

Frequently Asked Questions
In order to file your taxes, we will need all of your tax related to documents such as forms W-2 or forms 1099. Additionally, we will need proof of identity and your current address.

Yes, we can process all unfiled tax returns.
- A majority of taxpayers will receive their returns electronically using the banking information provided by the taxpayer. In the event a no banking information is available the Internal Revenue Service will issue a check to the address on file.
- Payments to the Internal Revenue Service can be submitted electronically when the return is filed, electronically using the EFTPS system, via check with a payment coupon, or as installment agreement.
- Individual tax extensions are valid until October 15th (or the next business day if it falls on the weekend)
- S-Corporation and Partnership tax extensions are valid until September 15th
- C-Corporation tax extensions are valid until October 15th
The statue of limitation for these documents is three years.
